Description : | CD40, also known as TNFRSF5, is a member of the TNF receptor superfamily which are single transmembrane-spanning glycoproteins. CD40 protein plays an essential role in mediating a broad variety of immune and inflammatory responses including T cell-dependent immunoglobulin class switching, memory B cell development, and germinal center formation. CD40 protein is expressed in B cells, dendritic cells, macrophages, endothelial cells, and several tumor cell lines. Defects in CD40 result in hyper-IgM immunodeficiency type 3 (HIGM3). In addition, CD40/CD40L interaction is found to be necessary for amyloid-beta-induced microglial activation, and thus is thought to be an early event in Alzheimer disease pathogenesis. |
Source : | Yeast |
Species : | Mouse |
Tag : | His |
Predicted N Terminal : | Val 24 |
Form : | Lyophilized from sterile PBS, pH 7.4. Normally 5 % - 8 % trehalose, mannitol and 0.01% Tween80 are added as protectants before lyophilization. |
Molecular Mass : | The recombinant mouse CD40 consists of 180 amino acids and predicts a molecular mass of 20.3 kDa. |
Protein length : | Val24-Arg193 |
Purity : | > 95 % as determined by SDS-PAGE. |
Stability : | Samples are stable for up to twelve months from date of receipt at -70 centigrade. |
Storage : | Store it under sterile conditions at -20 centigrade to -80 centigrade. It is recommended that the protein be aliquoted for optimal storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. |
Reconstitution : | It is recommended that sterile water be added to the vial to prepare a stock solution of 0.2 mg/ml. Centrifuge the vial at 4℃ before opening to recover the entire contents. |
Shipping : | In general, recombinant proteins are provided as lyophilized powder which are shipped at ambient temperature. Bulk packages of recombinant proteins are provided as frozen liquid. They are shipped out with blue ice unless customers require otherwise. |

Q&As (5)
Ask a questionCD40 agonists have the potential to enhance immune responses against infectious agents, but their clinical use in this context is an area of ongoing research.
As of my knowledge cutoff date in January 2022, there were no FDA-approved drugs specifically targeting CD40. However, clinical trials were ongoing for CD40-targeted therapies.
Yes, CD40-targeted therapies are often investigated in combination with other treatments like checkpoint inhibitors or chemotherapy to enhance their effectiveness.
Side effects may include flu-like symptoms, cytokine release syndrome, and immune-related adverse events, which can be managed with supportive care and close monitoring.
Research on CD40-targeted therapies for atherosclerosis is still in the experimental stages and not yet in advanced clinical trials.
