Description : | Essential for elastic fiber formation, is involved in the assembly of continuous elastin (ELN) polymer and promotes the interaction of microfibrils and ELN. Stabilizes and organizes elastic fibers in the skin, lung and vasculature. Promotes adhesion of endothelial cells through interaction of integrins and the RGD motif. Vascular ligand for integrin receptors which may play a role in vascular development and remodeling. May act as an adapter that mediates the interaction between FBN1 and ELN. |

Q&As (6)
Ask a questionThe structure of FBLN5 determines its ability and stability to bind to other proteins. The study of its structure can help us understand its function and mechanism of action.
FBLN5 deficiency may lead to uncontrolled fibrinogen activity, resulting in premature degradation of fibrin, affecting the process of blood coagulation and hemostasis. However, the overexpression of FBLN5 may over-inhibit the activity of plasminogen, resulting in abnormal blood coagulation and hemostasis.
The main function of FBLN5 in the blood is to bind and regulate the action of fibrinogen, prevent excessive degradation of fibrin in the blood, maintain blood flow and normal clotting process.
Therapeutic strategies for FBLN5 may include supplementing or inhibiting its expression and regulating its interaction with other proteins. These methods may have potential application value in the treatment of coagulation disorders and thrombosis.
It can interact with a variety of other proteins, including fibrinogen and plasminogen. These interactions allow it to regulate the metabolism of fibrin and the blood clotting process.
In cardiovascular disease, FBLN5 may influence disease development and prognosis by regulating fibrin metabolism and coagulation processes. It could be a potential target for the treatment of cardiovascular disease.
