        Q&As (7)

        Ask a question
How is luciferase utilized in bioluminescence imaging? 05/09/2022

It allows for real-time tracking of cellular and molecular processes in living organisms.

What is the primary function of luciferase in organisms that produce it? 03/12/2022

Luciferase enables bioluminescence, helping organisms attract mates, prey, or deter predators.

How does luciferase produce light in a biochemical reaction? 12/14/2020

It catalyzes the oxidation of luciferin, releasing light.

In which organisms is luciferase commonly found? 11/28/2020

Luciferase is found in fireflies, certain jellyfish, and some fungi and bacteria.

Are there different types of luciferase, and how do they vary? 07/14/2020

Yes, there are different types, varying in their substrate specificity and the color of emitted light.

What is the role of ATP in the luciferase reaction? 01/28/2020

ATP provides energy for the luciferase reaction, converting luciferin to oxyluciferin.

What advantages does the use of luciferase offer in scientific research? 10/18/2019

Luciferase provides a non-invasive and highly sensitive method for studying biological phenomena.
