AnnexinA9 (ANXA9), otherwise known as ANXA31 and pemphaxin, is a calcium-dependentphospholipid-binding protein and member of the annexin family, expressed bystratified squamous skin epithelium, which may act as a low affinity receptorfor acetylcholine. ANXA9 is a target molecule for autoantibodies in patientswith the chronic autoimmune skin disease pemphigus vulgaris, characterised byepidermal blisters resulting from the loss of cell-cell adhesion. |
