Description : | This gene encodes the heavy subunit of ferritin, the major intracellular iron storage protein in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of 24 subunits of the heavy and light ferritin chains. Variation in ferritin subunit composition may affect the rates of iron uptake and release in different tissues. A major function of ferritin is the storage of iron in a soluble and nontoxic state. Defects in ferritin proteins are associated with several neurodegenerative diseases. This gene has multiple pseudogenes. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed, but their biological validity has not been determined. |
Source : | E. coli |
Species : | Human |
Tag : | His & T7 |
Form : | Freeze-dried powder |
Molecular Mass : | Predicted Molecular Mass: 25.0kDa. |
Protein length : | Met1~Ser183 (Accession # P02794) |

Characteristic : | The isoelectric point is 5.9. |
Applications : | SDS-PAGE; WB; ELISA; IP. |
Stability : | The thermal stability is described by the loss rate of the target protein. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37°C for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. (Referring from China Biological Products Standard, which was calculated by the Arrhenius equation.) The loss of this protein is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition. |
