Description : This receptor binds insulin-like growth factor with a high affinity. It has tyrosine kinase activity. The insulin-like growth factor I receptor plays a critical role in transformation events. Cleavage of the precursor generates alpha and beta subunits. It is highly overexpressed in most malignant tissues where it functions as an anti-apoptotic agent by enhancing cell survival.
Biological activity : Specific activity: ~100 nmol/min/mg at 25°C using poly(Glu:Tyr)4:1 substrate.Reaction conditions are 50 mM Tris, pH 7.5, 5 mM MgCl2, 5 mM MnCl2, 1 mM DTT, 250 μM ATP. The kinase concentration was 0.5-1 μM and poly-L-lysine was added in equimolar amounts t
