Description : | This receptor binds insulin-like growth factor with a high affinity. It has tyrosine kinase activity. The insulin-like growth factor I receptor plays a critical role in transformation events. Cleavage of the precursor generates alpha and beta subunits. It is highly overexpressed in most malignant tissues where it functions as an anti-apoptotic agent by enhancing cell survival. |
Biological activity : | Specific activity: ~100 nmol/min/mg at 25°C using poly(Glu:Tyr)4:1 substrate.Reaction conditions are 50 mM Tris, pH 7.5, 5 mM MgCl2, 5 mM MnCl2, 1 mM DTT, 250 μM ATP. The kinase concentration was 0.5-1 μM and poly-L-lysine was added in equimolar amounts t |

Q&As (7)
Ask a questionIGF1R is predominantly localized on the cell membrane, where it acts as a receptor for insulin-like growth factors (IGFs) and insulin.
Downstream signaling pathways activated by IGF1R include the Ras/MAPK pathway and PI3K/Akt pathway, contributing to cell growth and survival.
IGF1R interacts with IGFs and insulin, triggering downstream signaling pathways such as the PI3K/Akt pathway, influencing cell proliferation and survival.
There are potential therapeutic implications related to IGF1R in diseases involving growth signaling, making it a target for drug development.
Dysregulation or abnormal expression of IGF1R is associated with conditions such as cancer and developmental disorders.
Insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF1R) functions in cellular processes, primarily playing a role in growth signaling.
IGF1R contributes to the regulation of tissue development by influencing cell growth, differentiation, and survival.
