IL4R

Official Full Name
interleukin 4 receptor

Overview
This gene encodes the alpha chain of the interleukin-4 receptor, a type I transmembrane protein that can bind interleukin 4 and interleukin 13 to regulate IgE production. The encoded protein also can bind interleukin 4 to promote differentiation of Th2 cells. A soluble form of the encoded protein can be produced by an alternate splice variant or by proteolysis of the membrane-bound protein, and this soluble form can inhibit IL4-mediated cell proliferation and IL5 upregulation by T-cells. Allelic variations in this gene have been associated with atopy, a condition that can manifest itself as allergic rhinitis, sinusitus, asthma, or eczema. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms, a membrane-bound and a soluble form, have been found for this gene. -

IL4R has several biochemical functions, for example, interleukin-4 receptor activity, protein binding, receptor signaling protein activity. Some of the functions are cooperated with other proteins, some of the functions could acted by IL4R itself. We selected most functions IL4R had, and list some proteins which have the same functions with IL4R. You can find most of the proteins on our site.

Q&As (6)
Ask a questionIL4R is a synthetic protein that mimics the IL-4 signaling pathway in nature and binds to the IL-4 receptor in cells, which can be used to study the IL-4 signaling pathway and related diseases.
Common IL4R production technologies include prokaryotic expression systems and mammalian cell expression systems.
This protein is used in tumor immunotherapy, which can promote anti-tumor immune response and enhance the anti-tumor effect of cytotoxic T lymphocytes.
It is mainly used in immunology, drug research and other fields. It is also widely used in vaccines, biotechnology, cancer treatment and so on.
IL4R is used to treat severe pheochromocytome-induced aerodoritis and was approved by the FDA as the first drug to treat this disease.
IL4R cannot generally be administered orally, and needs to be administered by injection or intravenous drip.
