Description : | The molecularweight of the dimer is 250 kDa. The soluble receptor protein consists of thefull extracellular domain (Met1-Val730). TIE-1 (tyrosine kinase with Ig andEGF homology domains 1) and TIE2/TEK comprise a receptor tyrosine kinase(RTK) subfamily with unique structural characteristics: twoimmunoglobulin-like domains flanking three epidermal growth factor (EGF)-likedomains and followed by three fibronectin type III-like repeats in theextracellular region and a split tyrosine kinase domain in the cytoplasmicregion. These receptors are expressed primarily on endothelial andhematopoietic progenitor cells and play critical roles in angiogenesis, vasculogenesis and hematopoiesis. Human TIE2 cDNA encodes a 1124 amino acidresidue precursor protein with an 18 residue putative signal peptide, a 727residue extracellular domain and a 354 residue cytoplasmic domain. Twoligands, angiopoietin 1 and angiopoietin 2, which bind TIE2 withhigh-affinity have been identified. |
