In Face of Pancreatic Cancer

Gene Database Associated with Pancreatic Cancer for Your Reference

Whenever talk about pancreatic cancer, people would feel scared. In China, pancreatic cancer is called as the king of all cancers due to its poor prognosis and short survival time. In developed countries, it is also a very troublesome issue. Now let’s see some statistics: about 44,000 people per year in the U.S. will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. And most of them will be over 65 years old. At the time of diagnosis, 52% of all patients have distant disease and 26% have regional spread. The relative 1-year survival rate for pancreatic cancer is only 26%, and the overall 5-year survival is 6%.

All cancer begins with a mutation in the DNA of one cell causing the cell to grow and divide uncontrollably. Environmental, rather than inherited, factors seem to cause the genetic mutations in most pancreatic cancers. But in some families, hereditary factors play an important role. While only about 10% of pancreatic cancers are considered familial or hereditary, pancreatic cancer researchers are interested in specific inherited genes.

Here the following is the gene database associated with pancreatic cancer by alphabetic listing (only for education and reference purpose, not used in diagnosis or treatment):
